SMOKE SIGNAL #3 “BELLIGERENT PIANO” INTRO PAGE

November 21, 2010

For the third installment of the BELLIGERENT PIANO story arranged for SMOKE SIGNAL, I’ve started a new project: A special diorama collection meant to commemorate scenes of particular significance in the BELLIGERENT PIANO story. This first one is “JACKIE GETS THROW’D FROM THE TRAIN”, a scene that takes place in BELLIGERENT PIANO, episode one; HAPPY HOUR IN AMERICA #1. With each new SMOKE SIGNAL installment, a new cut-out piece of the diorama set will be made available.

Here’s the entire first page of the third installment:

I will also be making pieces in color, so if you want to download them from the weblog, you can construct the diorama in color. Here’s the first piece. It comes with two choices for Jackie’s right arm.

Here are the 3-D versions:

“NOTES OF A SECOND CLASS CITIZEN, PART ONE (INTO THE BASEMENT)” SPLASH PAGE

November 11, 2010

Above is the splash page for a new section I’m working on for FOLKTALES, and will run, in part, as a feature story in the River front Times. The character from these “notes” is the same character whose ruminations were placed as vignettes in between the stories in ABANDONED CARS. I always planned to continue the character’s narrative in that same fashion into FOLKTALES and THE BELIEVERS (the 2nd and 3rd books in the trilogy of graphic short stories kicked off with ABANDONED CARS). The character has developed considerably, though: So much so that I’m considering taking his story and making it into a graphic novel in it’s own right. We’ll see where things go from here.
